How to use this estimate
Copy current rates from the utility bill and include delivery charges when they scale with consumption. For gas, use the fuel unit shown on the bill and remember that a propane delivery price is not the same as a natural-gas therm rate. For a heat pump, test more than one COP because weather changes efficiency. This calculator compares an energy event; it does not include fixed utility fees, installation, maintenance or the repeated heat loss that determines seasonal ownership cost.
