Solar Pool-Heater Coverage Planner
Estimate an early solar collector-area range from measured pool surface area before adjusting for climate, shade and orientation.
A broad 50–100% surface-area planning band. Climate, shade, orientation, wind and season determine final sizing.
How to use this estimate
Measure the pool’s surface rather than relying on gallons, because surface area frames both collector planning and much of the pool’s heat loss. The displayed range is a conversation starter, not a roof layout. A solar professional still needs to evaluate usable sun, collector orientation, roof condition, wind, pipe length, pump head, bypass control and freeze protection. If the available unshaded area falls below the range, a cover or hybrid heating plan may be more realistic than squeezing panels into poor exposure.
