The difference shows up before a repair call

Remote access is most valuable when it is commissioned, secured and understood. Before buying, ask whether the quote includes network setup, app enrollment, firmware updates and a handoff showing how to recognize a normal standby state versus a fault.

The bypass question

A heater adds resistance to the circulation loop even when it is not firing. Jandy's VersaFlo integrated-bypass approach routes water around the heat exchanger when heat is not required. That can reduce pump work and limits unnecessary exposure of the exchanger to circulating pool water.

Select around the service ecosystem

Call two nearby pool companies before choosing. Ask which Jandy platform they stock parts for, whether they service warranty claims, and whether their technicians use the JXiQ diagnostic workflow. A feature has little practical value if no one nearby can support it.

Then compare exact capacity, fuel, exchanger and bypass configurations. The same family name can cover multiple input sizes and natural-gas or propane versions.

Decision summary

Choose JXiQ when integrated diagnostics, app visibility, heat-up estimates and the VersaFlo-linked ownership case matter. Choose JXi when the project values its compact, familiar platform and does not need the newer sensing package. Either one still depends on correct gas supply, water flow, venting, bonding and water chemistry.
